Movement in jewelry always has appeal. There is something alluring when earrings flutter with the movement of the head and when necklaces with articulation and dangling drops move with the body.

As one of many baby boomers, and a flower child to a certain extent, the 1970’s were a time of change. I went right along with the crowd and embraced the freedom of expression in clothing and hair styles, got into the music and loved the cars, so why not embrace the change in jewelry?

Spinner or swivel rings were very popular in the ’70’s and ’80’s. These rings were usually made from fine metals set with diamonds or other precious stones. They had moving parts that spun on bearings as the wearer moved.

Rings in Motion: Flower Power was inspired by the 1970’s jewelry movement offering a contemporary beaded approach incorporating the power of the flower! A flat Peyote stitched base is created as the band for this fun ring. The top of the flower is embellished with a CZ center and a series of fringes. The petals are 2-drop flat Peyote stitch with decreased edges and attached to a ring, so that the petals revolve while being worn. Quite a conversation piece!
